Thursday Classes

ART JOURNALING

The human mind is filled with expressive outlets indicative of our vast abilities to create art. Art journaling provides a gateway past the communication barriers and allows artists to play by their own rules. Halli’s guidelines are simple: if words alone can’t express individual worth, then use art. If the art is too abstract to convey an idea, explain it with words. Together on the same page words and art can create a dream-like partnership that will reveal your story on multiple levels. Influences in your environment are all around you but this doesn’t need to inhibit you as an artist. Students will use what they’ve seen and heard and make it personal. Through various techniques and multi-media collage, students will turn their art journal into a channel of self-discovery and interpretation of their world. Find your inner strength through art and text. Each student will come away with several pages of art and a clear understanding of how to continue creating on their own.

Class Number: 13

Instructor: Halli Lilburn

TAKING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Do you sometimes feel as thought there is too much technical mumbo jumbo to learn before you can realize your creative vision? Our photography students will learn how specific camera settings/tools can translate into compelling images. We will cover pre-visualization, composition, focus modes, in-camera metering, white balance presets, studio lighting, working with natural light, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and post production workflow (including editing techniques). Students will be expected to work on assignments that will help them develop technically and artistically. Students are encouraged to have access to a camera outside of class time. Students that do not have access to a camera outside of class will be given the option of signing out a DSLR camera for class assignments.

Class Number: 14

Instructor: Jarom Scott

Suggested Age: 13+*

*Ages are suggested, we’ve found that the duration that a student can engage in a creative activity can vary depending on their class environment and interest level in specific projects. Parents/guardians may feel that their student is likely to get more out of a class that isn’t within the child’s specified age range. We also realize that all parents are working around family and work schedules. If you have any questions about classes or schedules, please get in contact with us to discuss enrollment options. p - 403.892.6008 or
